Job Description



General Summary


The Night Shift Patient Care Technician plays a key role in supporting patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include hands on patient care, assisting with nutrition, providing close observation, transporting patients, and ensuring accurate documentation in accordance with the Maryland Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act.


In this role, you will support the 3E Stroke Telemetry Unit, working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on delivering high quality, compassionate care.



Shift: Full Time, 7:00 PM 7:30 AM, rotating weekends and holidays required.



Qualifications



Education & Experience


  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

  • Current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) required.

  • Completion of one of the following training programs: hospital-based program, community college program, Emergency Medical Technician, or Medical Corpsman training.

  • Current Staff Members with relevant work experience providing equivalent on-the-job training may be considered in place of a formal PCT training program.

  • Minimum of one year of recent, direct patient care experience required.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.




Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Ability to utilize universal safety precautions and respond appropriately in emergency situations.

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) we serve.

  • Highly effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills with patients, visitors, and healthcare team members to support quality patient care and a collaborative work environment.

  • Demonstrates proper technique and skills for obtaining accurate blood glucose results and documenting findings.

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform delegated nursing tasks based on age, culture, ethnicity, spirituality, and individual diagnostic needs of patient(s) we serve.


Shift Availability (required): Full Time, 7:00 PM 7:30 AM, rotating weekends and holidays.




Compensation:


  • Pay Range:$19.40 - $26.51

  • Other Compensation: Night Shift Differential.
